Dr. Norman C. Francis, long-time president of Xavier University of Louisiana was honored at a ceremony and tribute party June 4 at the Hyatt Regency in New Orleans. Delfeayo Marsalis and the Uptown Jazz Orchestra participated in his recognition as house band for the black tie, star-studded affair – including guest performances from Irma Thomas and Allen Toussaint, among many others.
The Uptown Jazz Orchestra plays every Wednesday at Snug Harbor on Frenchmen Street, at 8pm and 10pm. Visit Snug Harbor’s website for tickets.
